Sell Out Record at Fenway & other thoughts

I sure wish I was gonna be at the game tonight. But I will be watching on TV. We have been to 11 games this year. And we have tickets for the game Friday night! YEAH! I think it's awesome we set a sell out record but it's kind of bad too for us fans that can't go to all the games because we can't get tickets & they cost so much. I was talking to people I know that used to go to Fenway 40 or 50 years ago. They told me lots of cool stories like you could go the day of the game and buy a ticket cheap because not many people went to the games. And you could hang out by the field and get autographs and stuff like that. It reminds me of how the North Shore Spirit games were. I went to almost every North Shore Spirit game for 5 years. I really miss the Spirit.
The players, people who worked there and other fans all knew my name. We could hang out by the field and get autographs when the guys were on the field and after the game. The players and managers were always so nice to us kids and treated us like we were important. We laughed, cheered and even cried together. It was like a big family. We were family because we all loved the North Shore Spirit. Sometimes when there wasn't a Spirit game the Fraser Faithful would get together to watch Red Sox games. I miss the North Shore Spirit especially my favorite catcher Alex Trezza and still cry sometimes because the team is never coming back. Their last game was in 2007.

But I've been a Red Sox fan since I can remember and I'm glad I have the Red Sox and Red Sox Nation. I'm glad I am a Kid Nation Captain and part of the Red Sox Nation family. Thanks Remy, Regular Rob, Joe Chamas, PAPELBON, Schilling, Pedroia, Kid Nation Captains and the rest of my Red Sox family. You're the best. Sometimes I don't think people know how much the Red Sox means to us kids. It's like family and Fenway park is like home. It's a place we can go and have fun and be a part of a big family where everybody belongs. When you're cheering for the Red Sox no one cares is you're a little kid or old. It doesn't matter how fast you can run or how smart you are. It doesn't matter if you're rich or poor or one of the cool kids. We just love the Red Sox so we're family.

Now if we can just beat the Rays every game in this home stand take back the lead in the AL. I'm glad Lester is pitching. I like him and it was awesome watching him pitch a no hitter. He got cured of cancer & I hope everybody realizes how important it is to find a care for cancer so no more people die from it.

Wild Knuckleballs, Catching & Prospects

Ouch. The 15-8 loss against the Rangers last night was really painful to watch. Tim Wakefield knows how to throw a knuckleball but just couldn't keep it in the zone. I think Cash was a little sloppy too. He fumbled too many balls. If any scouts are out there reading this check out Worecester Tornado Catcher Alex Trezza. He can catch everything- knuckleballs, sliders and fast balls. He's also a great team leader and led the CanAm League in home runs in 2007. The Sox really need to pick up Trezza. This loss hurt so much because we were so close to catching up to Tampa Bay in the AL Race but I think even if Tampa makes it to the playoffs that they're gonna choke. The team is still pretty inexperienced.

Miss Jocelyn Red Sox White Sox

Red Sox/White Sox Aug. 29 Game
I had a bad week. My favorite counselor from the YMCA Miss Jocelyn drowned in Salem and I was sad. Her funeral was Friday and I was really sad. I loved her a lot. She taught me to swim and always made us laugh. She was a real good artist too. My Grandma wanted to cheer me up so we went to Boston and we got tickets for the game from Hig's tickets. They were awesome seats. We were 3 rows behind the Red Sox Bullpen. Jonathan Papelbon was hanging out in the Bullpen and I got to get real close to him. I got a picture of his car in the players parking lot too. He has a cool black Mercedes. The Red Sox beat the White Sox BIG TIME

Back from Camp, Manny & Jason Bay

I just got back from Camp Rotary and it was awesome. I love camp. Grandma sent me the sports pages every day so I could follow the Red Sox even though we don't have a TV or radio at camp. I can't wait to see the game tonight. I've REALLY REALLY missed watching the games. I'm kinda sorry Manny is gone but I'm glad to see we're doing so good without him. He was acting like a spoiled brat and like he wasn't even part of the team. I don't like the way he talked about the Red Sox owners and Tito. It was too disrespectful and rude. I like Jason Bay. I think he's good and I'm excited about watching him play. I'm glad Varitek is coming out of his hitting slump I knew he would. I'm so excited on Aug. 13 I get to go to Fenway again for the Red Sox Kid Nation captain Meeting with Jerry Remy and Regular Rob. I have a bunch of old Jerry Remy baseball cards. Maybe he'll sign one for me.

Clinic With Pedroia

Sorry I haven't been updating my blog. I'm at the Y all say every day and watching games at night so I don't have much time. In a few minutes I'm leaving for 2 weeks at Camp Rotary but b4 I go I had to write about the most awesome day. I GOT TO MEET DUSTIN PEDROIA TODAY! Really! The Red Sox had a clinic with Pedroia for the Kid Nation captains. It was awesome. Pedroia was so nice to us and let us ask him lots of questions. He's shorter than I thought he would be but he smiles and laughs a lot. We got to go on the field with Dustin and got to sit in the Red Sox Dug Out. I can't believe I got to sit where Papelbon, Tony C., Johnny Pesky and all the other Red Sox players have sat for almost 100 years. It was stupendous. The other Kid Nation Captains were really cool and it was fun meeting all the other kids. Joe Chamas works for the Red Sox and set the whole thing up for us. Joe is awesome. This is the best summer of my life. I still can't believe I'm a Captain and getting to do all these things. I can't wait to find out what project we'll be doing to help other kids. I'll update my blog again in 2 weeks when I get back from Camp Rotary. Thanks again to everyone that voted for me.

What's Up With Manny?

I love watching Manny play- he's fun to watch but lately I've been getting pretty upset with him. He acts like he's not trying and that's just wrong. Sometimes I wonder if he's trying to make the Sox lose or whether he just doesn't care. I think he's acting like a spoiled brat and is being disrespectful to the coaches and his team members. If Iacted like that I's lose my allowance and get grounded probably for life. I hope he straightens out because it has to be hard for the other guys on the team.

Thoughts on Tampa Series

I have always been a Sox fan and love my team. I hate to say anything bad about the team I love so much but it HURTS watching them play lately.

There were some bad calls by the umps last night & it cost us 2 runs but I think Dice K bears a lot of the blame for our loss. From the day we signed Dice K I've been saying he's overpaid and overrated. All he knows how to do is walk people. He wouldn't know a fast ball if it hit him in the head and he's an embarrassment. I've watched every game since I can remember but when he's pitching I have to admit I think about not watching. It's so embarrassing.

I also have to say I think the Devil Rays deliberately walking Youk 2 times in 1 game was pretty low class and poor sportsmanship. And to all you people whining about Varitek- give hima break. He's in a hitting slump but is a great catcher and team captain.

I don't think Tampa should have played Sweet Caroline after sweeping us either. I think it was pretty rude.

NESN Pre-Game Show on Wednesday watch for me

I haven't been around much because my Nana died and we were out of town. But don't forget to watch the Red Sox game on NESN Wednesday night. The Red Sox called last week and I was invited to be on the Roush Fenway Racing Pre-Game Ceremony with some other kids from Red Sox Kid nation. This will be my 5th game this year.

Voting for the Kid Nation Captains contest ended Sunday but they haven't announced the winners yet. I'm going crazy waiting. I hope I win.

I am SO HAPPY Curt Schilling is doing okay after his operation. Man I hope he can play baseball again after he gets better.

Actually I hope all our guys on the DL get better soon. But I'd rather have them on the DL now than we're in the play offs.

And congrats to Jerry Remy on 20 years with NESN. REM DAWG ROCKS

Happy Birthday Manny & Don't forget to vote for me

I know it's Manny's Birthday so I hope he hits #500 tonight! That would be awesome. I hope when Manny hits 500 the person that catches the ball gives it to him for his kids. I think that's what I'd do with it if I caught it. It's been tough to keep up on the blog this week because of the West Coast games. I have to go to bed before they even start so I recorded them. I go to school and then the Y. I get home, eat dinner & do homework then watch the games I recorded until bedtime- so I haven't had much time to blog. The games this week have been rough but hopefully we'll do better in the series this weekend. Go Sox.

Please don't forget to vote for me for captain of Kid Nation. My essay is in my blog in the entry called Please Vote For Me for Captain of Red Sox Kid Nation. Be sure to read it. You can vote here.

Losing to A's & Kid Nation

Losing to the A's was tough but I think Beckett did a great job last night mowing them down. I'm glad Varitek wasn't seriously injured hurt he got hit in the back of the neck with the bat. The West Coast games are tough to stay up for. I'm so tired today.

Please don't forget to vote for me for captain of Kid Nation. My essay is the entry b4 this one.

The Red Sox just called & I'm a finalist in the Red Sox Hood Kid Nation Captains Contest

I am so excited. I can't believe it. The Boston Red Sox just called. I am one of the finalists in the Boston Red Sox Kid Nation Captains Contest! really! They called me. it said Rd Sox on the caller ID. At first I couldn't say anything. I just jumped up and down. Then I screamed so loud my Grandma said she's almost deaf I can't believe it. Somebody pinch me. AND THE RED SOX are winning! It can't get any better than this!

Yesterday I went to the Celtics Game 7 with some people from the YMCA. It was fun being with my friends. I'm glad the Celtics won but I'm even happier the Red Sox won & I'm so EXCITED about the Kids Nation. Everyone PLEASE vote for me. I would be a good captain. Here's my essay I wrote for the contest & my answer to the question about what I'd ask a player. I have to go to bed now because it's past my bedtime & I'll be up late tomorrow because it's my play. I'm Lucy in "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown."

By Victoria

I try to help kids by showing them that even though we aren't old enough to vote that we can still do important things and make a difference. I have done lots of things to try to help kids. When the North Shore Spirit baseball team was leaving Lynn I started a petition to keep them in Lynn so kids would have something fun and safe to do during the summer. I got more than 800 signatures with the help of my friends and we were on the news and in the newspaper. The team left but we tried our best and trying is an important as winning. At least we let people know how much we loved the team and we all worked togther. I also put a North Shore Spirit float in the Lynn Christmas parade to thank the team and everyone had fun riding on it and watching it. I do a lot of other things too. I helped my friend Athena sell lollipops to raise money for breast cancer research and sometimes I go with my great grandmother to help feed hungry people at a church in Lynn. I give away my old toys and clothes to people that need them. I also try to help kids if they are being picked on by bigger kids because nobody should be scared or picked on. And if somebody doesn't have a friend because they're not cool or different I ask them to be my friend. But the most important thing I want to do is let kids know they don't need to join gangs, take drugs and smoke cigarettes to be cool. You don't have to be in the popular club or a sports star to be cool because being cool is doing things to help other people and make the world better. I would be a good captain of Kid Nation because I know how to work with other people and get kids involved in projects like I did with the "Save Our Spirit" project. My North Shore Spirit Baseball Collection is in the Lynn Historical Society Museum. I applied for their collections contest and was picked so all the kids in Lynn get to look at my collection and enjoy it like I do. I like sharing my stuff with other people. It makes me happy and them happy. I also know lots about the Red Sox. I am a huge Red Sox fan and watch every game I can on television. I have been to games at Fenway too. I collect Red Sox baseball cards and like Jonathan Papelbon, Curt Schilling and the older players like Tony C. and Johnny Pesky. You can see my blog at http://alextrezzafanclub.blogspot.com/ for more information about me.

Back on top in AL

The double header on Saturday was great. I'm glad we're breaking out of the slump. Well I admit the games were a little messy but at least we won so maybe we'll get out of the slump. Let's go Red Sox!

We're going to the Celtics Game 7 today with the YMCA. We get to go on the court & meet the players b4 the game. But when the director Tony told us about the Celtics I asked if we could change the Celtics tickets for Red Sox but we can't so I'll just take a radio & headphones so I can listen to the Sox during the Celtics game.

I got a nice surprise in the mail yesterday from Andrew at Inkline Marketing- a Red Sox jersey, some autographed Red Sox pictures, baseball cards, a Carlton Fiske Bobblehead & an Adam Hyzdu autographed mini helmet & autographed Bill Lee photograph. Thanks Andrew

3-0 for 3 in a row then losing & Manny High Five & Cuddyer Catch

Man I don't know where to start. The last few games have been painful to watch. The last 3 games in a row we were up by three runs than blew it. What is going on? Is it inuries? The bullpen or pitching? I just know one minute I'm cheering & the crying the next. Can't wait until Schilling is back in the rotation.

I do know the 1st base ump on Wednesday night stunk. I watched replays & both our guys were safe but he called them out on first. Who knows we might have won if he made the right calls. I have to wonder if he's blind or what. I guess it's a good thing the 1st base ump can't see because if he had seen Ramirez chuck his batting helmet at him Manny would have been tossed out.

Manny made an AWESOME play Wednesday night in Baltimore- he should get a Golden Glove for that play. He caught a high fly ball hit by Kevin Millar, high fived a fan in the stands and then made a double play. It was incredible. It was also pretty funny watching the guys in the bullpen watch it on TV.

Lose Lugo

I can't believe how many errors Lugo has been making. I think he's up to 12. He has really been hurting us. I feel bad for Lugo too because his perfomance is so embarrassing. As soon as Alex Cora is off the DL he should replace Lugo. I know Papelbon is a closer but I think if we started putting him in at the bottom of the 7th it would help us & help Papelbon. I think he's just not getting enough playing time to be effective. His talent is being wasted. It's always good to watch Varitek. He's an awesome catcher and good captain. And if anyone from Sox management reads this blog you really HAVE to sign catcher Alex Trezza. He led the CanAm league in home runs & is an awesome catcher and team captain. He was bought by the Worcester Tornadoes but he should really be in the majors. He'll be the next Jason Varitek for the Red Sox if somebody gives him a shot. GO SOX!

We're On A Roll- Let's Go Red Sox

We're On A Roll- Let's Go Red Sox
The game last night against the Detroit Tigers was awesome! Tim Wakefield's knuckleball, a home run by Ortiz & Manny Ramirez 497th home run. Catcher Kevin Cash did a good job too. I hope Manny hits #500 at Fenway Park & I'm there to catch it.

I'm excited about Curt Schilling starting throw the ball again. I hope he's able to pitch before the season is over.

I'm really excited because I got a new Jonathan Papelbon picture & I'm redoing my room all Red Sox.

So Sweet Sweep Against Tampa Bay

The MVP for this game is Youk! This game had it all- home runs, 5 stolen bases, double plays & Papelbon. What more could a girl ask for? And here's the Tampa Bay Gravestone I made last year during the World Series & had in my front yard. On May 27 I was crying because TB swept us but it just makes this victory all the sweeter.

Sweet 12-4 Win against the Rays

Sweet 12-4 Win against the Rays
The game last night was so sweet. It's nice to be number 1 in the rankings so early in the season especially with all the injuries and illness the Sox have had. It's great to have JD Drew & Lowell back in the line up. It was also great seeing some hot bats early in the game instead of just in the last two innings. Can't wait until Schilling returns & lets hope Brandon Moss makes a quick recovery. I can't believe he played as good as he did Friday night & had to have surgery on Saturday.

And Manny- well you just have to love a guy who can smile & laugh when he strikes out.

We didn't need Papelbon last night but I have to wonder why we haven't seen more of him the last couple of weeks- especially when we were down by a couple of points in the 7th & 8th innings. I know Papelbon is a closer but we should use him whenever we need him I think his talent is being wasted when we lose games by 1-3 points and never put him in. It seems kind of silly to me.

One more thing MLB needs to retire Tony C's #25 like they did Lou Gehrig's #4

Rain Delays? Take a book & umbrella to the ballpark

We haven't been able to get tickets for any of the games this weekend but it looks like there might be rain delays so if you're headed out to the ballpark I suggest you take a book along. Right now I'm reading "RED SOX RULE: Terry Francona and Boston's Rise To Dominance." It's a good book. I just finished reading "The Official Baseball Hall of Fame Answer Book" and that was good too. I am also reading "Big Papi". That book is a lot of fun.If anyone has any suggestions for other good Red Sox books let me know. I love reading about baseball.

Let's go Red Sox. Time to Sweep

Let's go Red Sox. Time to Sweep
We had a great win last night & I'm hoping for a sweep tonight. I'm so glad it's FINALLY baseball season & I still have my Red Sox to cheer for. I'm still sad the North Shore Spirit (a CanAm League team) aren't coming back to Lynn this year. I went to every game at Fraser Field for 5 years because tickets were cheap and it's only 5 minutes from my house. I also watched all the Red Sox games on TV last year- except the ones they played when I was in school. But there's nothing like being at the ballpark 4 or 5 times a week with all my friends.I'm REALLY going to miss going to Fraser Field this summer. I knew all the players and they all knew me by name too. You could go right down to the field and get autographs b4 the game. I've never been able to get an autograph at a Sox game. But I still I wish I had season tickets for the Red Sox and could go to every game at Fenway. It's so much more fun than watching it at home on TV but I can't. I went to 3 games at Fenway this year and Grandma said that was my allowance for the whole year. I don't understand why tickets have to be so expensive and hard to get for the Red Sox. People should stop trying to hog all the tickets when they go sale just so they can sell them for more money. That's not fair to real fans. Go Red Sox!

It's Only April It's Only April It's Only April

It's only April It's only April It's Only April
If we have to get swept better in April than October. Although I have taken the recent losing streak pretty hard. I actually cried in my seat at Fenway when the Angels defeated the Red Sox 7-5 on Thursday, April 24. It was my third game this year & the first one we lost but I loved seeing David Ortiz hit that home run and Justin Masterson was pretty awesome for someone who has only played AA Ball. But I'm not even going to talk about the series with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays

I just keep telling myself It's only April & once the guys are over the flu and injuries we'll be winning again. I can't wait to see Jason Varitek and Schilling and Lowell back in the game. I was so GLAD when the SOX re-signed him. We haven't seen enough of Jonathan Papelbon either. But they're my Red Sox & I love them whether we win or lose

Please check out my new favorite link http://www.shadefoundation.org/
This is Shonda Schilling's (wife of Curt Schilling) SHADE Foundation to raise money for melanoma research and to teach people about skin cancer. She is doing some really great stuff. We made a donation to the SHADE Foundation & she gave us 2 of her tickets for the Sox game on the Marathon Monday. Shonda Schilling ran the Boston Marathon to raise money for the SHADE Foundation. Enjoy the pictures from the Shonda's seat in the Home Plate Pavilion Club at Fenway Park and remember WEAR SUNSCREEN. I always do!

Yankees Yuck

I went to the Red Sox and Yankees game on Sunday night. It was awesome. We were in the fifth row from the field. It was my first red Sox and Yankees game at Fenway & it was awesome. I loved being able to boo A-Rod at Fenway instead of yelling at the television. Dice-K pitched but I was hoping Papelbon would come in because he's my favorite pitcher. I saw Johnny Pesky at Fenway that night too. My favorite part of opening day ceremonies was when Johnny raised the World Series Flag. I will be going to Fenway Park soon for my special tour. I mailed a letter to Santa Claus asking for season tickets for Christmas. I didn't get them but he sent my letter to the Red Sox and they wrote to me. they sent me some Fenway dirt and other cool stuff. They said I will get an "exclusive Papelbon package" and a tour of Fenway. i also get to have my picture taken with the new World Series trophy. How cool is that? And I've been saving my allowance so if anyone has tickets to sell cheap email me.

New York City for my Birthday Altar Boyz & Rude Yankees Fans

I went to New York City to see the Altar Boyz for my birthday. It is my FAVE off-Broadway show. We had front row seats for the show & it was my first trip to NYC. It was the best birthday I ever had. I wore Red Sox stuff all weekend in NYC. The Yankees fans were SO RUDE. They booed me at the Empire State Building because I had on a Red Sox hat and shirt. One guy was so rude & asked if I knew NY was Yankees territory so I asked him if he knew where the World Series trophy was. I had so much fun. I got to ice skating in Rockerfeller Center and I saw "STOMP." want to go back every year for my birthday.
This is a picture of my with Matthew from the Altar Boyz & pictures of me at the Empire State Building

I have an autographed Johnny Pesky Hat & baseball

I love Johnny Pesky "MR. RED SOX" and I FINALLY have an autographed Johnny Pesky baseball & hat. A neighbor of mine is related to Pesky & I took over a baseball and she said she would ask him to sign it for me. He did & he bought me a pink Red Sox hat that he autographed on the brim too. I am so pyched! I touched Pesky's pole at Fenway once. Now if I just can get some more red Sox autographed stuff and more baseball cards. If anyone has any Red Sox tickets they can't use let me know.

Tony C, Billy C. & 1971 Red Sox Topps Team Card

I bought 3 baseball cards I have been dying to get on eBay. I got Tony C, Billy C and 1971 Red Sox Team card. I was so excited when I won the auction. Johnny Pesky autographed a World Series baseball for me and he gave me an autographed Red Sox hat. My Red Sox baseball card collection is doing good. If anyone has a Johnny Pesky baseball card I'm looking for one.

Spirit Float a Success

Thanks everyone for helping with the North Shore Spirit float for the Lynn Christmas Parade. The Frasier Faithful are the best! I love you guys!

Christmas Parade Float Update North Shore Spirit

This is our last chance to thank the North Shore Spirit & Nick Lopardo for 5 great summers of baseball- so let's make this a success!
The parade is on Dec. 24 at 5 p.m.
The Kevin Kennedy Band has offered us the use of a sound system for the float. We have a white reindeer & sleigh we can use on the float along with a white Christmas tree.
Judging from the response we're getting there may be too many of us to ride on one flatbed- the company we're getting it from is limiting the number of people for safety reasons. I'm still trying to find out what happened to the Slugger uniform-- does anyone know how we can get our hands on that?
BJ Weed & Andy Theriault have agreed to ride on the float. We'd love to get as many players as possible so if you have contact information for any of the boys pass this along.

BJ WEED & THERIAULT will ride on float in Christmas Eve Parade

I'm so excited. The Lynn Chirstmas parade is on Dec. 24. It starts at 6 p.m. but everyone has to be there at 5 p.m. to ride on the float. My Grandma talked to BJ Weed and he said he'd ride on the float in the Lynn Christmas Eve Parade. Andy Theriault (#9 Bullpen Catcher) is coming from N.H. to ride on the float too. BJ's going to call other players & see if they will ride on the float too. I'm so excited. Cathy said she'd paint a backdrop. Dave at LynnCam TV said he'd wear a Santa suit with a Spirit jersey over it. Someone is donating a tree and someone else is donating lights. A group of 10 awesome kids from Classical High School and several families emailed and said they'd help. My Grandma thinks she has a flatbed truck from Four Star Towing but we might have to raise $200 or more to pay for it. And if we can get someone with a truck with a trailer hitch we can also get an open trailer so more people can ride for $100. Anyone else interested email me.

Christmas Parade North Shore Spirit Baseball Float

I have an idea that might sound crazy but has anyone ever seen the Lynn Christmas Parade? It's really cool ! They have it every year on Christmas Eve. I was thinking it would be really awesome if we have a float in the parade this year to thank Nick Lopardo & the North Shore Spirit for 5 great years of CanAm League baseball. I REALLY REALLY want to do this. Does anyone know what happened to the Slugger costume? We could have someone dress like Santa and wear a North Shore Spirit jersey. Maybe we could get a local towing company to donate use of a flatbed truck to ride on. If not we could probably ride in cars and decorate them. We have a couple of huge Spirit banners someone already said we can borrow. We could put a tree and lights on the truck with the banners and make signs thanking Nick & the Spirit. We'll need a tree, decorations and lights. We'll also need people to help make signs for the float. Anyone interested contact me. I really want to do this. If anyone knows a Red Sox player or North Shore Spirit player that would ride with us that would be awesome too

College Ball NECBL Replacing North Shore Spirit at Fraser Field?

Here are some of my thoughts on this:
***Steve and mayor Clancy are wrong! Some college kids playing college ball for a couple of months will not fill the void left by the Spirit leaving.I don't know why people are excited about this. Think about it. If the Red Sox were booted out of Fenway Park would everyone be jumping for joy if the Pennsylvania Road Warriors decided to play at Fenway. I don't think so.

*** Someone suggested having the NECBL Holyoke Giants use the Spirit name. NO! There will only be one Spirit. That's like having the Red Sox leave Fenway & naming some non-pro ball team that decides to play at Fenway the Boston Red Sox. It would be terrible. It's like swearing.

*** I'm only 9 but even I know the difference between college baseball, CanAm league ball, Indie Ball and farm teams. I've seen college baseball games and they are not very good. And how can you be a real fan of a team that has a whole new set of players every season? That's lame.

This is part of a story on www.itemlive.com
By Steve Krause / The Daily Item
LYNN - Fans who feel the void left by the departure of the North Shore Spirit may soon have a new team to follow.
The New England Collegiate Baseball League - which consists of players culled from various college teams around the country - is on the verge of agreeing to move its Holyoke franchise to Lynn in time for next season, Mayor Edward J. Clancy Jr. said Thursday.
The new team could be officially approved Tuesday, if the Lynn Stadium Commission votes in favor of the proposed lease, Clancy said...
Clancy said the lease compares with the one the city gave the Spirit: $1 from June 1 through Sept. 30.
"We're not in this to make a dime," he said. "We want to have the facility used, and kept in pristine condition, and be available for a people to go out and have nice, affordable family entertainment."
That was the Spirit's objective too. And Clancy said that the city's experience with the Spirit and its owner, Nick Lopardo, is one of the reasons that the NECBL and Holyoke owner Phil Rosenfield, a Swampscott native, were so anxious to enter the Lynn market.
"The Spirit's presence, and what Nick did, and what the city did in partnership, speaks volumes about the marketability of Fraser Field," Clancy said. "Fraser Field has been deemed a safe, family-friendly location for sporting events for people and families all summer long."

"We're very pleased that someone is going to come forward and fill the void that the Spirit left," Clancy said. "And we'll all go forward, hopefully

Giving SOS Petitions to Mayor Clancy Tuesday, Oct 9 at 5:30 PM

Tuesday. Oct. 9, 5:30 p.m.
Lynn City hall, 3 City Hall Square

I know everything is down at Fraser Field and the Spirit probably won't come
back. But I have over 700 signatures and am going to give them to Mayor Chip
Clancy on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. City Hall is open until 9pm on Tuesday and the Mayor will be there because there is a city council meeting that night. If you can please come and wear your Spirit gear if you have any. Maybe we can't save the Spirit but we can show the mayor how much we love the Spirit and how much we support Nick Lopardo & our North Shore Spirit. Nick and the Spirit gave us 5 awesome summers of baseball and this is the least we can do to say thanks. Maybe the TV and newspapers will show up too.

How Rude

I have almost 600 signatures now. I emailed Mayor Chip Clancys office for 2 weeks and called to try to get a time when I can take him the Save Our Spirit petitions. He hasn't answered my emails or calls. I know other people that emailed and called him too and he hasn't answered them either. How Rude!
There was a story about the North Shore Spirit on the front page of the Lynn Journal today. There was a picture of me with Alex Trezza. And Sam Stevens in Canada writes "The Baseball Files." He sent me a link to a story he put on his blog about the Spirit. Here's the link.
http://www.baseballfiles.com/the-dugout/losing-the-spirit/
I still haven't got my North Shore Spirit chair Nick Lopardo promised me. I'll post a picture of me in it when I get it.

I just don't get it! This year Clancy said Spirit is great for city & Spirit said they want to stay

I just don’t get it.
On April 18, 2007 Mayor Chip Clancy told the Gloucester Times a baseball team should move to Gloucester because the Spirit is so good for Lynn. On July 15, 2007 Vic Davilla told the Boston Globe the team wants to stay in Lynn.
SO WHY CAN’T WE MAKE THIS WORK? Everyone just needs to work together and bring the North Shore Spirit back year.
Both stories are below. BE SURE TO READ THEM!

http://www.gloucestertimes.com/pusports/local_story_108093918?keyword=secondarystory+page=0

This is what Clancy said.

Whether it be Plan A, B, or C, the city would benefit from having a baseball team in the city, Lynn Mayor Edward "Chip" Clancy said.
Lynn faced a similar situation early this decade when Boxford businessman Nick Lopardo pitched a similar idea. Lopardo purchased the Waterbury Spirit Independent baseball team and wanted to move it to the North Shore.
To make this idea work, Lopardo spent over $2.5 million to renovate Fraser Field. He added new seating, dugouts, concession stands, restrooms and clubhouses at the field. Lopardo also renovated an adjacent building into ticket offices, a retail 'Pro Shop' and a media area. He also added parking spaces, a play area for children, and a state-of-the-art scoreboard.
More importantly, Lopardo also created jobs for Lynn residents, while also bringing in added revenue to retail stores and restaurants. The players on the Sprit also moved into homes and apartments in the city, adding increased tax dollars.
Clancy also said that the neighborhood where Evans Field is located saw its crime rate decrease since the Spirit moved there, as additional police presence was added. There has not been a major incident at Fraser Field since the Sprit moved in. Lopardo has also helped neighboring cities, donating money to area high schools to support its athletic programs.
"This has been a win-win situation for the both of us," Clancy said. "The attendance has increased each year and the games have been competitive. We've also had no problems whatsoever. It has been all positive and a great success."
Clancy said that adding a baseball team in Gloucester would give families wholesome, affordable entertainment, while also creating new jobs.
"The North Shore Sprit brought affordable entertainment into an older urban area," Clancy said. "They have given residents something to look forward to each summer and have supported the city in many ways. This is a perfect situation for us and it can be a positive situation for Gloucester. I hope it works out."

THEN ON JULY 15, 2007 Vic Davilla told The Boston Globe
http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2007/07/15/in_the_family_spirit/?page=1

When the Spirit first arrived in Lynn, the team drew 100,000 spectators and lost $1.8 million in the first season, Connolly said. The team lost $1.7 million in its second season, $700,000 the next, and $600,000 last year. This summer, Connolly said, the team is averaging about 2,300 fans, compared with 2,500 last season, and is looking to break even.
But it's still a long way from being Lynn's team rather than just another team that plays in Lynn.
"I would like to see the city more involved," said manager Vic Davilla, a Georgetown native. "I think this could be a great thing if they came together and said, 'You know what, what Nick Lopardo's doing here is not a joke, it's a great thing.' Hopefully in the near future the city can say let's re evaluate the situation because we want this team to stay here."

Former MLB Spokesman Bob Wirz Wrote About Me & The North Shore Spirit

This is an article Bob Wirz wrote about me and the North Shore Spirit.
http://www.indybaseballchatter.com/
If you don't know who he is you should. Bob Wirz used to be the spokesman for Major League Baseball Commissioners Bowie Kuhn and Peter Ueberroth. He also used to work for the Kansas City Royals. He said he talked about me last night in a speech about baseball. Bob sold the Spirit to Nick Lopardo so I wrote to him and asked him to buy the Spirit back and keep them in Lynn but he can't. But at least he wrote a good story.

I have a new pen pal, and I have to admit she has stolen my heart.

Don't worry, my wife will not be jealous.

All of the Independent Baseball world needs to know about Victoria Glidden. Many know about her already.

Victoria is 9, and she is crushed that the North Shore Spirit, the Can-Am League team in Lynn, MA, will not be playing again. Owner Nick Lopardo, who poured a great deal of money and energy into the Spirit for five seasons, has closed up shop. He has not said it in so many words, to my knowledge, but the Spirit apparently did not receive the support they needed from the City Hall or the business and fan base to stop the financial losses.

"The Spirit is the best part of living in Lynn and it's being taken away from us," Victoria wrote in her first email to me. "We love the Spirit. I'm just a kid but I want to help find a way to keep the team in Lynn."

But unlike so many people who might say something similar, Victoria Glidden is not stopping with a few emails. She started a petition, and the last I knew she had collected 447 signatures. She got 209 from the internet and 238 from "talking to people". "I want a million (signatures)", she wrote, and she may be well on her way by now.

Victoria's plight has been on television and in newspapers in Massachusetts although she admits Mayor Chip Clancy, the primary target in her effort, has not responded.

"One of the things I want to do when I have enough money is buy a baseball team," Ms. Glidden told me in her most recent message. "The kids could always go to games and I'd give free tickets to the poor kids too so everyone can have fun."

Victoria's grandmother, Debra, told me "she (Victoria) is a wreck over the Spirit leaving. Spirit games are the highlight of her life. She has been to almost every game for five years."

"I'm so sad thinking I won't be able to go to any Spirit games next summer," was the most heartfelt of all of her lines. "It makes me want to cry."

Victoria even asked me if I would buy the team. I am afraid I remain powerless in this situation, Victoria. Maybe your message will get through to someone who can help. And regardless, Victoria, your determination will win out in life.

He asked me to put this with his post: Bob Wirz has 16 years of major league baseball public relations experience with Kansas City and as chief spokesman for two Commissioners and runs his own sports consulting company in Stratford, CT. He is the author of a newly-published book ‘The Independent Minor Leagues: 2006 Season in Review’ and this blog, www.IndyBaseballChatter.com. Subscriptions to the book and this weekly Independent Baseball Insider column are available at www.WirzandAssociates.com .)

Here's a link to the North Shore Sunday Article

Leave it Lynn to get rid of the best thing in the city for kids. Guess what Lynn has an ice skating rink and it has public skating. Great right? NOT! It's CLOSED IN THE SUMMER and open for public skating Monday through Friday during the school year from 12:30 until 2:20 WHEN KIDS ARE IN SCHOOL so we can't even use it!
WHAT ARE KIDS IN THIS CITY SUPPOSED TO DO?

I'm NOT Quitting even though Trezza was sold

Today Nick Lopardo posted a letter on the North Shore Spirit Website saying the team won't be back but I'm not giving up. I'm still continuing my SOS campaign and I have 427 signatures. the story was in the Boston Globe North today. it's online at www.boston.com/north and wbz.com has a video of the last game. If I can i'll try to get a copy of the channel 5 story and post it on my blog too.
The bad news is Alex Trezza was sold to the Worcester Tornados. I wish i could go to the games to see him play but it's too far. Even if I went to Worcester I WILL NEVER cheer for the Worcester Tornados even if Trezza is on the team. My only teams are North Shore Spirit and the Red Sox. People wouldn't think it was no big deal if the Red Sox stopped playing and quit Fenway. People wouldn't just go pick another team to cheer for and I won't do that to the Spirit. I'm still going to try to save the team. I grew up at Spirit games at Fraser Field and made a lot of friends there. The mayor didn't even talk to me about all the petitions I sent him. This stinks.

I HAVE 381 SIGNATURES & AM STILL COLLECTING THEM

I'm still going to try to turn this around and bring the Spirit back next year! Please sign my online petition and send the link to everyone you know. use the link on the right to download and print out a petition. Take it to soccer practice, football practice, Red Sox games and anywhere else there are LOTS of people. The lease on Fraser Field doesn't run out until the end of Oct and Nick has at least until the league meeting on Oct. 7 to tell the league if he's coming back so this is NOT over. Nick has exercised the option on the team and the mayor said he would renew the lease. Email me and I'll tell you how to get the petition to me so I can get them to Mayor Clancy and Nick Lopardo! I emailed the mayor some of the petitions but he didn't answer my so email so I'll have to take to his office in city hall. Please help SOS (SAVE OUR SPIRIT) for all us kids.

Bye Spirit Bye Fraser Field Bye Alex Trezza

Bye Spirit Bye Fraser Field Bye Alex Trezza!
I can't believe the Spirit lost tonight. I am so sad. I cried all the way home. I can't believe I'll never get to see the North Shore Spirit play at Fraser Field again. I feel so bad for the players, my friends at Fraser, Nick Lopardo and all the kids that won't get to have fun next summer at Spirit Games.
Bye Spirit Bye Fraser Field Bye Alex Trezza!

Thank you Nick for giving me the Spirit chair. I love it but I'd rather have the Spirit back next year.
We have a field and the North Shore Spirit exercised an option for 2008 on almost all the team. There's no reason we can't bring them back! Nashua was going to fold this year and decided to give it 1 more year.
Mayor Clancy if you read this please help and do something to help bring the Spirit back.
PLEASE LET US HAVE 1 MORE YEAR!
PLEASE SAVE THE NORTH SHORE SPIRIT!

WIN OR LOSE THE NORTH SHORE SPIRIT ARE CHAMPIONS

This is a quick post before I head out to Fraser. Let's Go Spirit! You can do this. I saw you come from 10 runs behind to win 1 game this year and you can sweep the next 3 games at home to take the title.
But whether we win or lose the NORTH SHORE SPIRIT ARE CHAMPIONS
WE LOVE THE NORTH SHORE SPIRIT
Whether we win or lose tonight please keep signing petitions and writing the newspapers and Mayor Clancy and let Nick Lopardo know how much we love the Spirit. The addresses and links are all here in my blog.
We have to keep the Spirit in Lynn.

WELCOME HOME SPIRIT

I went out to Fraser Field today to welcome the team home. I made a big Welcome Home Spirit sign. Their bus was supposed to be in at 5 but they got in 4:30 instead.Good thing I was early! Everyone else that was going missed them. Most of the guys on the bus waved to me when they saw me and Alex Trezza came over and was talking to me after he got off the bus. It would be so awesome if some of the guys on the team found my blog and left me a note.
We're #1
SPIRIT RULE!!!

SEE YOU AT FRASER FIELD ON FRIDAY!
I have a homework assignment for everybody!
MAKE LOTS OF SIGNS AND BRING THEM TO FRASER FIELD ON FRIDAY GAME TIME 6:05 PM
The players will think they're at Fenway
&
Make sure you look at the pictures in the earlier entries on my blog.

Goodbye Spirit

I am so sad thinking this is could be the last Spirit game I'll ever go to at Fraser Field unless the Spirit win this round of playoffs. Someone has to talk to Mayor Chip Clancy. Everyone should write, email and call Chip Clancy. Tell him he has to let the Spirit come back next year. It'll be so sad for the kids that won't have anything to do. I'll miss going to the games with all my friends and seeing the new friends I made at the ballpark. The Spirit is the best part of living in Lynn and the city is taking it away from us. We love the Spirit and Nick Lopardo! I'm so sad I'll never get to see another game at Fraser Field. I'm sad I'll never get to sing the National Anthem at a Spirit Game. Bye Alex Trezza! Bye Spirit!

Please bring the North Shore Spirit back for 2008

I read on the internet the North Shore Spirit won't be back next year. That made me so sad that I'm crying. I love baseball and the Spirit. I went to every game this year except one. I missed that one because my Grandma was working. If the Spirit don't come back the kids in Lynn won't have anything to look forward to next summer and will have nothing fun to do. I asked for season tickets for next year for Christmas. The North Shore Spirit are the best. Kids in Lynn LOVE the Spirit. I am so upset and sad I even wrote to the mayor. I'm so sad thinking I'll never be able to go to another Spirit Game. If I had a million dollars I'd buy them. Can kids buy baseball teams or only grownups? I love the Red Sox too but the tickets are hard to get and cost too much money so I only go to Fenway for one or two games a year. I missed birthday parties, pool parties and a trip to Water Country so I could go to Spirit games. And when I went to Camp Rotary for a week this summer I went the week there weren't any home games so I didn't have to miss a Spirit game.

Alex Trezza Fan Club Debut

Alex Trezza was born on Sept. 1 so the (unofficial) official Alex Trezza Fan Club made its debut that night at the North Shore Spirit game at fraser Field in Lynn, MA.

Here are some pictures of the Fan Club before the Spirit and Sussex Skyhawks Game on Sept. 1, 2007 (too bad we lost) but the Red Sox won!!!

Thanks Athena, Felicia, Mia, Hailey, Courtney, Colin, Cheryl and Mark!

I Have an Alex Trezza Game Jersey

Hooray! I have an Alex Trezza Game Jersey! It was supposed to be a Christmas present but my Grandma let me have it now so I can wear it to the playoff games. This is me and Alex Trezza in MATCHING GAME JERSEYS on Sept. 2 after the North Shore Spirit beat the Sussex Skyhawks 7-2 at Fraser Field.
Now if I could just get his hockey jersey from when he used to play hockey so I can wear it ice skating!

Other Sites I didn't Know I was On

Since I started this blog people have sent me links to a couple of sites that had my picture on it. I don't know who took the pictures but they obviously saw me at the games. Some of these pictures are pretty cool.

Anyone know who Boston Fan in Michigan is?

This is going to be a great day! The ICE SKATING RINK is open this afternoon for the first time since April and there is a North Shore Spirit game tonight!
